Wyoming Pronghorn Hunting by Hunt Area
Every Wyoming pronghorn hunt area is limited quota. There is no general antelope licence to buy over the counter and no Region licence to fall back on — a licence is drawn for one specific hunt area, by resident and nonresident alike, and if the draw does not come through there is no regional alternative. That is a real difference from Wyoming elk and deer, where a general licence exists for both.
Wyoming holds more pronghorn than any other state, spread across sagebrush basins, high desert and rolling prairie. The country is open, which changes what the hunt asks: most of it is glassing and a stalk across ground with little cover, and the limiting factor on a great many hunt areas is not the animals but getting onto land where they are.
Wyoming residents have no preference points for pronghorn. Where a resident does have to draw — any limited-quota area — that draw is random, so there is no resident point cutoff anywhere in the state and nothing for a resident to build, bank or burn. For nonresidents points matter a great deal: 75% of each nonresident pool is awarded through the preference-point draw, top-down by points, and 25% at random. Nonresidents also choose between the Regular and Special pools — the same hunts at two price points, competing separately — and Wyoming takes the full licence fee upfront, refunding it if you are unsuccessful.
A region licence is a real fallback when a specific hunt area does not come through, but only for general areas. It is not valid in a limited-quota area, so for those there is no fallback: that area has to be drawn on its own.
These are 101 of Wyoming’s 102 pronghorn hunt areas. The rest are being added, so the counts below describe what is on the site today rather than the state as a whole.

Each must be drawn for that hunt area specifically. A region licence does not reach these.
