Terms of Service
Last updated October 26, 2026
The short version: Hunt Plan helps you plan, but the state wildlife agency has the final word on every rule, boundary and date; a map is not permission to be somewhere; odds are not promises; the AI can be wrong; and the backcountry is dangerous. Your subscription renews monthly until you cancel, and your hunt data is yours. The full terms follow.
1. Agreement, eligibility and your account
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Hunt Plan LLC(“Hunt Plan,” “we,” “us”), covering huntplan.co and everything on it, including the planner, the AI advisor, gear tools and field log (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
- Eligibility — You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
- Your account — Give accurate information and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@huntplan.co if you think someone else is using it.
- Deleting your account — You can delete your account at any time from Profile. Deleting it cancels any subscription and removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Hunt Plan is a planning tool, not the law
Hunt Plan helps you research and plan. It is not a state wildlife agency, and nothing in it is an official statement of any law, regulation or rule.
- You are responsible for following the law — Before you apply, buy a licence or tag, or go hunting, check the current official regulations from the state wildlife agency and any land manager. That includes seasons, dates, legal animals, weapon and ammunition rules, hunter-orange rules, licence and tag requirements, unit boundaries, closures and deadlines.
- Regulations change — Agencies change rules, boundaries, quotas and dates, sometimes mid-season. Our data comes from agency publications and other public sources, and it may be out of date, incomplete or wrong.
- If Hunt Plan and the agency disagree, the agency is right — Don't rely on Hunt Plan as your only source for any decision with legal, financial or safety consequences.
- We don't sell licences or submit applications — Applications, payments and draws happen with the state agency, under its rules. Missing a deadline or making an application error is between you and the agency, even if Hunt Plan showed a reminder or a wrong date.
3. Maps, land ownership, roads and access
The map is for planning. It is not a survey, a legal boundary determination or permission to be anywhere.
- Boundaries are approximate — Unit, wilderness, land-ownership and closure boundaries come from public datasets of varying accuracy and age. They are not survey-grade and may be off by a significant distance on the ground.
- Public land is not the same as legal access — Land shown as public may be closed, restricted, or reachable only by crossing private land. Showing a parcel as public does not mean you may hunt it or get to it.
- A road on the map is not a road you may drive — Some road layers show roads that exist, not roads open to the public. Travel rules, seasonal closures and vehicle limits are set by the land manager. Check the current Motor Vehicle Use Map, travel map or closure order before you drive.
- Respect private land — Never enter private land without the owner's permission, whatever the map shows.
- Location features can be wrong — Device GPS, map tiles and coordinates can be inaccurate. Don't use Hunt Plan as your only navigation tool in the field.
4. No guarantees, and AI can be wrong
- Odds and estimates are not promises — Draw odds, point projections, harvest rates, success rates, trophy estimates and similar figures are calculated from past results. Past results do not guarantee future draws, and agencies change quotas and rules. We don't guarantee that you will draw a tag, see or harvest an animal, or that an animal will score any amount.
- Weather can be wrong — Forecasts and historical weather come from third parties and can be wrong.
- The AI advisor can make mistakes — Hunt Plan's chat and some written content are produced by artificial intelligence. AI output may be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong, even when it sounds confident. Treat it as a starting point, and confirm anything that matters (dates, boundaries, legal animals, weapon rules, deadlines) with the official source.
- Our analysis is labelled as ours — Some figures, such as draw-difficulty ratings and public-land percentages, are Hunt Plan's own analysis, not agency data. We try to say which is which; where we don't, assume a figure may be our estimate.
5. Hunting and the backcountry are dangerous
Hunting, backpacking and travel in remote country carry real risks, including serious injury and death. These come from firearms and archery equipment, falls, weather, wildlife (including grizzly bears), getting lost, vehicle travel, and being far from help.
You choose where you go, what you carry and how you travel. You are solely responsible for your own safety and that of anyone with you, including your physical condition, skills, equipment, navigation, communication and emergency plans. Gear lists, weather and route information in Hunt Plan are suggestions, not a safety plan.
To the fullest extent the law allows, you voluntarily assume all risks of hunting and backcountry activity, whether or not you used Hunt Plan to plan it.
6. Subscription, free period, renewal, cancelling and refunds
- Price — Hunt Plan costs $10 per month (plus any applicable tax) unless we tell you otherwise at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Free period — Accounts created before December 1, 2026 are free until December 1, 2026. Accounts created on or after that date are free for 7 days from signup. A free period is available once per person.
- Your subscription renews automatically — When you subscribe, you authorise us to charge your payment method $10 when your free period ends, and again every month after that, until you cancel. We show the price, when your first charge happens and how to cancel before you confirm checkout.
- How to cancel — Go to Profile → Billing → Manage billing and choose Cancel, or email hello@huntplan.co. You can cancel at any time, including during the free period. If you cancel during the free period you won't be charged. If you cancel after a charge, you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Refunds — Payments are non-refundable, and we don't give refunds or credits for partial months, except where the law requires it. If you think you were charged in error, email us within 30 days and we'll look into it.
- Price changes — We may change the price. We'll email you at least 30 days before a change takes effect, and you can cancel before it applies to you.
- Failed payments — If a payment fails, we'll retry for up to about two weeks while you keep access. If it still fails, your subscription ends.
- Early free-for-life accounts — Some early users have free access for life. We'll honour that for as long as we operate the Service, subject to these Terms.
7. Your content and how you use Hunt Plan
- You own your content — Your notes, field logs, photos, videos, scores, gear lists, saved hunts, locations and chat messages ("Your Content") stay yours.
- The permission you give us — You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, display and transmit Your Content only as needed to run the Service for you: to show it to you, to people you share it with, and to produce your results (including sending chat messages to our AI provider). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups kept for a limited time and anything you shared that others already copied. We don't sell Your Content.
- Sharing is your choice — If you share a list or report by link, anyone with the link can see what you chose to include. You can stop sharing at any time; people who already joined a shared list as collaborators keep access. Check what a shared item shows, including location, before you send the link.
You may not use Hunt Plan to:
- plan, record, promote or brag about poaching, trespass, or any other violation of hunting, wildlife or land-use law;
- post content that is unlawful, harassing, threatening, or that infringes someone else's rights, including photos you don't have the right to share;
- reveal someone else's private information or locations without their consent;
- scrape, copy or resell our data, maps or content in bulk, or use automated tools to access the Service other than through normal browsing;
- use the Service or its output to build, train, benchmark or improve a competing product or an AI model, or reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract our algorithms, models, prompts or data;
- interfere with the Service, probe its security, get around access limits or the paywall, or access another user's data.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these Terms or the law, and we may disclose information when the law requires it, or when needed to protect the safety or rights of our users, the public or Hunt Plan, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
8. Third parties, trademarks and our property
- Third-party services — Hunt Plan relies on other companies' services, including mapping (Mapbox, OpenStreetMap contributors), payments (Stripe), AI (Anthropic), hosting and data storage. Their terms may also apply to you, and we aren't responsible for their outages or content. Links to agency sites, retailers and other websites are for convenience; we don't control them.
- Brands and trademarks — Product names, brand names, logos and trademarks shown in Hunt Plan, including in the gear catalog, belong to their owners. Showing them does not mean the owner is affiliated with, sponsors or endorses Hunt Plan, or that we endorse them. Product specifications such as weights come from manufacturers and may be wrong; check with the manufacturer.
- State agencies — Hunt Plan is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any state wildlife agency or federal land-management agency.
- Our property — The Service belongs to us and our licensors. That includes its software, design, interfaces and written content, and our proprietary technology: algorithms, methods, scoring and ranking systems, draw-odds and other analysis, AI workflows and prompts, models, processes, and the databases and data compilations behind them, to the extent the law protects them. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for your own hunt planning while your account is in good standing. You may not copy, resell or redistribute it except as these Terms allow.
9. Disclaimers, limits on our liability, and indemnity
As is.THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON’T PROMISE THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY DATA, ODDS, MAP OR AI OUTPUT IS ACCURATE OR CURRENT.
Limit on damages. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST TAGS, LICENCE OR APPLICATION FEES, POINTS, TRAVEL COSTS, FINES, PENALTIES, PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE OR YOUR HUNTING OR BACKCOUNTRY ACTIVITY.
Cap. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) $50.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow some of these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity.You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your content, or your violation of any law or anyone’s rights, including hunting, wildlife and trespass laws.
10. Ending the agreement, changes, disputes and contact
- Ending it — You can stop using Hunt Plan and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the Service. If we end the Service for reasons other than your breach, we'll refund the unused part of any paid month. Sections 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 survive.
- Changes to these Terms — We may update these Terms. For material changes we'll email you and post the new version at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Hunt Plan after that, the new Terms apply; if you don't agree, cancel before then.
- Governing law — These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
- Disputes — Before filing a claim, you agree to email us and try to resolve it informally for 30 days. Any claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court instead.
- General — These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If a part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them with our business.
