Privacy Policy

Information you give us

• Account details — Your first name, last name and email address, and a password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only as a hash — nobody at Hunt Plan can read your password.
• Onboarding answers — The states you hunt, your home state, the species you target, and how experienced you are with Western draws. These shape your draw odds and how the product explains things.
• Your preference points — The draw points you record for each state and species, so odds can be calculated for your actual position rather than a generic one.
• Hunt planning data — Saved and planned hunts, hunt lists, unit notes, map annotations, application history, season decisions and hunt preferences.
• Gear data — Your gear vault, your gear lists, and any product link you paste in to import an item.
• Field logs, scores and locations — When you log an animal, a sighting or a scored bull, you can attach a location — a spot you tap on the map, or your device's GPS position, which your browser asks your permission for first. We store it precisely (to within about a metre), along with a place name looked up from those coordinates. These entries are private to your account unless you share them.
• Photos and videos — Photos and videos you add to a field log or a scored animal are kept in private storage that only your account can reach. Phones write the GPS location into every photo and video; Hunt Plan removes it on your device before the file is uploaded, so the file itself never reveals where it was taken.
• Profile picture — If you add one, it is stored at a public web address so it can be shown in the app.
• Billing — If you subscribe, Stripe collects your card details directly — Hunt Plan never sees or stores your full card number. We keep your subscription status, plan dates and Stripe customer reference.
• Messages to us — Feature requests and anything else you send us directly.

Your locations are private by default

Where you hunt is the most sensitive thing you can tell us, and we treat it that way. Your saved locations, field logs, photos and hunt plans are private to your account. We never sell them, and they never go to advertising or analytics companies: the analytics described below receive only which part of the app was used — such as “/planner” — never your map position, a unit you are looking at, a saved spot or a share link.

• Sharing is your choice — You can share a gear list or a scored-animal report by private link. Anyone with the link can see what you chose to include. A shared report hides its location unless you turn it on, and you can choose how precise it is. You can stop sharing at any time, and the link stops working.
• Map and place-name lookups — To show maps, and to turn a saved location into a place name or a map image, your browser sends map requests — including those coordinates — to Mapbox, our map provider.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage data — Which features you open and how long you spend in them, recorded so we can see what is actually useful. Tied to your account when you are signed in, and to a random browser-generated session id when you are not.
• Technical data — Standard request information such as IP address, browser and device type, and referring page — the data any web server receives.
• Analytics and advertising — Google Analytics, Vercel Web Analytics and the Meta Pixel, described under Cookies below.

The Hunt Advisor and AI processing

Hunt Plan includes an AI advisor. When you use it, your questions and the hunt context needed to answer them — which can include the units you are looking at, your preference points and your saved hunt data — are sent to Anthropic, which operates the model that generates the reply. Anthropic processes that data in order to return an answer to us.

We say this plainly because it is the disclosure most easily missed: what you type into the advisor leaves Hunt Plan and is processed by a third-party model provider. If you would rather something not be sent, do not put it in an advisor message. Your conversations are stored on your account so you can come back to them.

• Other AI features — The gear advisor works the same way. If you upload a screenshot of your preference points, it is sent to Anthropic to read the numbers and is not kept afterwards.
• What the advisor remembers — To personalise later answers, the advisor may save short facts from your conversations to your account — for example the states and species you hunt.
• Who at Hunt Plan can read conversations — Hunt Plan staff can read advisor conversations to check the quality of answers and fix problems. We do not read your field logs, photos or saved locations as a matter of course.

Cookies and similar technologies

• Essential — Sign-in cookies set by our authentication provider. Without them you cannot stay signed in. A small cookie also remembers your light or dark theme so the page does not flash the wrong one.
• Local storage — A random session id used to group product-usage events from the same browser, a short-lived marker used to record a completed signup, and a note of how this browser first found Hunt Plan (the referring site, the first page you landed on, and any campaign tags on that link), which is saved to your account if you sign up. None of these contains your name or email.
• Analytics — Google Analytics (GA4) and Vercel Web Analytics measure page views and general traffic patterns. Inside the app they record only which section was used (for example /planner or /gear), never map positions, units, saved spots or share links.
• Advertising — The Meta Pixel runs only on our public pages — the home page, the unit guides, signup and pricing — never inside the planner, field log, gear lists or shared links. It records that a browser visited those pages, and whether it started or completed a signup, so we can build advertising audiences and measure whether our ads work. It is also how we avoid paying to advertise Hunt Plan to people who already have an account. Signup events are additionally reported from our server, so blocking the pixel in your browser stops the browser half but not that server report — see Meta under Who we share it with.

We do not currently show a cookie banner. If you would rather not be measured, browser-level controls work: most browsers can block third-party cookies, and both providers publish their own opt-outs — see Google Analytics Opt-out and Meta ad preferences.

How we use your information

• To run the product — Calculating your draw odds, drawing your maps, saving your hunts, and keeping you signed in.
• To contact you — Deadline reminders and notification emails you have signed up for. Every one carries an unsubscribe link.
• To improve the product — Understanding which features get used, so the next thing we build is the right thing.
• To market Hunt Plan — Measuring which ads bring people in, and building advertising audiences as described above.

We do not sell your information. We do not share your hunt data, your notes, your preference points or your advisor conversations with other users or with advertisers.

Who we share it with

Hunt Plan is built on services run by other companies. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job:

• Supabase — Authentication and the database. Your account and all of your hunt data live here.
• Vercel — Hosting, and Vercel Web Analytics (cookie-free traffic measurement).
• Anthropic — The AI model behind the Hunt Advisor, the gear advisor and screenshot reading. See the section above.
• Mapbox — Maps. Receives map requests from your browser, and the coordinates of a saved location when it is turned into a place name or a map image.
• Stripe — Payments. Collects your card details and processes subscription charges.
• Open-Meteo — Weather. Receives the general location of a hunting unit to return forecasts and historical weather — never your own position.
• Resend — Sends our email — reminders and notifications.
• Google Analytics — Traffic measurement.
• Meta — Advertising and conversion measurement. Two ways: the Meta Pixel in your browser, and a matching report sent from our own server when you sign up. The server report includes your email address in a hashed (irreversible) form so Meta can tell that a conversion happened without us handing over the address itself.
• ScraperAPI — Used only when you paste a product link into your gear vault; the URL you provide is sent there so the page can be read and the item filled in for you.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of Hunt Plan and its users.

Your choices

• See and change your data — Your account details, onboarding answers and preference points can be viewed and edited in the product at any time.
• Stop the emails — Every notification email carries an unsubscribe link, and reminder settings can be changed in your profile.
• Delete your account — You can delete your account yourself from Profile at any time. That cancels any subscription and permanently removes your account, your hunt data, field logs, locations, photos and videos, profile picture and advisor conversations. Feature requests you sent us are kept without your email address.
• Control location — Your browser asks before Hunt Plan can use your device's location, and you can say no or turn it off in your browser settings. You can remove the saved location from a scored animal, delete any field log, and stop sharing any link.
• Ask us what we hold — If you want to know what information we have about you, or want it corrected or removed, write to us and we will sort it out.

Keeping it and protecting it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, and remove it when you delete the account. Copies in our providers’ backups expire on their schedules, typically within weeks. Analytics and advertising data expire on the schedules those providers set. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with providers that encrypt data at rest. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise — but we do not store anything we do not need.

Children

Hunt Plan is built for adult hunters and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we add a service that handles your information, or start collecting something new, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. It was last updated on October 26, 2026.
